120%ing Arkham Knight

is he stupid?

I never really played video games, maybe other than the occasional Minecraft spree. But after I got a pc, I was browsing steam and came across the Arkham Trilogy on sale. I've always been a fan of DC comics, so it was practically a no brainer. I started off with Arkham Knight, and this led me down the rabbit hole of video games. On my first playthrough, I never really finished the game, so three weeks ago I decided to not only finish the game, but 100% (+20% with DLC) it.

SPOILERS (like seriously.)

Main Story.

Scarecrow makes a pretty good villain. Using fear as a weapon, and tying it into the plot made it really interesting. And I mean, everyone knew who the Knight was. Like it was pretty damn obvious. I gotta say tho, that slick transformation from Knight to Hood was kinda awesome. Seeing the Joker pop up as well, not really as a main baddie but as a sort of companion was refreshing. And even though it was a fitting end to the trilogy, we all know the bat isn't dead. (After all, he's in the new Suicide Squad Game.)

Side Missions.

Honestly, I like how the side missions were in this game. Having each villain have their own story and different gameplay mechanics felt right for a superhero game. I especially liked the Professor Pyg one, since it made use of Batman's detective abilities, even though it was kinda creepy, and the Killer Croc's mission gave me Asylum vibes, But admittedly most of them were pretty repetitive, especially the Deathstroke one (spoilers?) and taking down the militia towers.

Riddler Trophies.

Most of the trophies were fine (making use of the informants and this video makes it easier), but the batmobile ones really sucked. I played the game with a controller (as you should), but for the shooting bits, I always had to move my thumb ever so slightly on the joystick, and it was a pain in the ass, especially with the timer running, so I just gave up and used a mouse instead.

Review?

I guess it's worth the time spent (~70hrs). It was honestly pretty enjoyable, and considering that it was the first game I completed, it feels good. I guess I'll try the prequels next.

also, thought that I should add this here. https://www.reddit.com/r/batmanarkham
